Instead, they will earn a significant bonuses on top of their base salary from their team if they win.

The amount varies greatly depending on the driver, team, and performance – sometimes reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars per victory.

Who earns the most?

Bonuses excluded, four-time world champion Max Verstappen land Hamilton lead the pack as the highest base earners.

The Red Bull superstar driver, 27, reportedly earns £50million a year – a figure similar to seven-time champ Hamilton.
