F1 introduce never-before-seen feature at spectacular Las Vegas Grand Prix as fans say ‘we’ve reached a new low’

FORMULA ONE is set to take over Las Vegas this weekend for the most highly-anticipated race of the year.

The iconic Vegas strip has been completely transformed into a high-speed circuit ahead of the prestigious event, with 100,000 spectators expected to attend each day.

A number of additional features have also been introduced exclusively to mark the historic weekend – including a star-studded opening ceremony which will feature performances from the likes of John Legend, Tiësto, will.i.am and Thirty Seconds to Mars.

However, one never-before-seen addition has caused a stir among fans.

Las Vegas GP organisers have built a wedding chapel in the paddock for fans that wish to get married during the weekend.

The chapel – appropriately named ‘Race To The Altar’ – has a feature wall adorned in flowers along with a sign that reads: “Lights Out And Together We Go.”

There is also an F1 show car in the chapel that says “Just Married” on the rear wing.

The unique addition to the Las Vegas GP has generated a mixed response from die-hard fans, with many branding it as “cringe”.

One person took to X to write: “This is going to be the cringiest GP ever.”

Another added: “When we thought it couldn’t get more cringe than Miami… We’ve reached a new low with Las Vegas.”

A third wrote: “What is this everything about this race and the promo is so cringe.”

While a fourth blasted: “What a terrible idea.”

However, others loved the idea, with one person commenting: “Love that! If we’re racing in Vegas everything should be all out!”

While another joked: “I guess I’ll get divorced so I can get married here.”

Qualifying for the Las Vegas GP will take place from 12am until 1am local time on Saturday November 18, while the race will start at 10pm.

That means in the UK qualifying will start at 8am on Saturday morning, with lights out at the early time of 6am the following day.
