On the pathway out to the field, a huge Chelsea badge sits on the floor.

And Maresca deliberately chose to walk around it to avoid stepping on the club’s crest.

Many of the players followed suit, including Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix.

Fans were delighted with the respectful gestures, with one saying: “Loved how Maresca did not step on the Chelsea logo.”

Another added: “Maresca avoided walking over the Chelsea badge. I like that. So much respect for the club.”

A third reacted: “I love those players who show the Chelsea badge respect.”

Choosing to not walk on a club’s badge is seen as a respectful move by players, with Jude Bellingham and Joao Cancelo doing it in the past.

Maresca stroll around the crest came in the build-up to Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat away at Servette in the Conference League.
