ARSENAL fans were baffled as Konstantinos Mavropanos refused to celebrate after scoring against them for West Ham.

The defender thundered in a header to double his side’s lead against the Gunners in the Premier League fixture.

The Greek international’s celebration was rather muted, though as he held his hands up.

This left many viewers confused as his goal looked to set West Ham on their way to a famous victory.

Mavropanos was showing respect despite only playing eight times for his former club.

Mavropanos left Arsenal in 2022 as he joined Bundesliga outfit VfB Stuttgart.

He moved back to England this summer as he completed a move to to the Hammers.

The game had already seen plenty of drama as West Ham took the lead through Tomas Soucek in the 13th minute.

However, fans were fuming as they thought the ball had gone out of play in the build-up.

West Ham star Lucas Paqueta was also forced off with what is a suspected hamstring injury.
