ARSENAL fans are convinced Kai Havertz will be moved to a different position this coming season due to the expected arrival of a star striker.

Havertz, 25, has been one of the most versatile players in the Premier League since 2020 when he joined Chelsea and has continued to offer solutions in different areas at the Emirates after his arrival last year.

The Germany international has mostly played as a false nine for the Gunners, but can also operate as a central and attacking midfielder.

However, the North Londoners have prioritised the signing of a striker in the summer transfer window.

And according to wild speculation created by Portuguese outlet Leonino, Arsenal are “very close” to signing Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres.

Gyokeres would command a high fee as SunSport revealed Sporting will remain firm on their expensive valuation.

The 26-year-old, who registered a staggering 43 goals and 15 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions last season, has a release clause worth around £85million.

Arsenal would want to negotiate a fee in the region of £50m-£60m, but Sporting are unwilling to let the Sweden international leave on the cheap.

However, the recent news from Portugal have left Gooners with high hopes and some have even predicted Havertz will be moved to a different position much more suited to his ability.

One fan tweeted: “That’s mean Havertz & Gyokeres gonna fight for being first-choice striker next season.

“Both of them give different option for us but i’m glad if we can sign Gyokeres.

“We gonna sell [Eddie] Nketiah so Gyokeres or Havertz gonna be second-choice striker.”

And another commented: “That would mean pushing Havertz to No8.”
