Fans convinced Arteta ‘has lost it’ after Arsenal boss gives bizarre post-match interview after Liverpool FA Cup loss

FANS claim boss Mikel Arteta has “lost it” with a controversial rant after Liverpool condemned Arsenal to a third straight defeat.

Arteta insisted he had never seen so many chances against the “best team in Europe” as the Gunners created in Sunday’s 2-0 FA Cup exit.

But many supporters were astounded by his verdict on both Arsenal‘s display and Liverpool‘s status.

Jurgen Klopp‘s men were without stars like Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk.

But despite the Gunners dictating the first half with plenty of scoring opportunities, Liverpool nicked victory late on through Jakub Kiwior’s own goal and a brilliant breakaway from Luis Diaz.

Arteta told the BBC: “Well, the performance was there and the amount of chances too.

“We just have to win the game, but we lost it and we are not capitalising. To win games we need to capitalise.

“When you are better than the best team in Europe and you generate that amount of chances…I have not seen a team do it against them like we have done it.”

But the Spaniard also admitted: “It is not enough. The reality is, it is not enough.

“Listen [do I say] play worse than Liverpool, be worse and we will win the game. When my team plays with this confidence what can I do? I am still behind them 100%.

“It is what it is and we have to continue to play the same way and be more efficient.”

However, supporters reckon the “same old story” is unacceptable as they demanded Arteta splashes out on a natural finisher this month.

One posted: “Best team in Europe” – followed by a crying-with-laughter emoji – and added: “Yes, he’s lost it”.

Another made a similar point: “Best team in Europe? This guy just blows smoke up his players’ and own a*** but every week we lose.”

A third argued: “It was not Liverpool’s A team. He can’t consider games where we created chances without winning as ‘bad luck’.”

And a fed-up fourth fan was also tired of what he considered repetitive assessments from Arteta.

He wrote: “We always generated chances, playing silky football, no opponents plays like us against best teams and somehow we always end up losing 0-1, 0-1, 1-3.

“It’s unbelievable. We don’t want any more motivational speeches, we want trophies now, big trophies. Pl, UCLs, it’s now or never.”

Some viewers suggested that once again the Gunners’ edge faded after a blitz of chances.

One said of Klopp’s side: “They had no Salah or Van Dijk. Liverpool grew into the game in the second half. Arsenal vanished again.”
