FANS spotted Sir Alex Ferguson’s reaction to Manchester United flop Antony during their FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest.

Bruno Fernandes attempted to switch the play during the first half at the City Ground as he raked a long ball over towards the Brazilian on the far touchline.

But the effort was overhit and Antony failed to scamper to reach it before it ran out of play.

The camera zoomed in on Antony‘s reaction as he praised Fernandes for the pass.

It then cut to legendary Man Utd boss Ferguson, 82, who proceeded to exchange a few words with new Red Devils chief Sir Dave Brailsford.

Both Fergie and Brailsford had a chuckle to themselves, before turning their attention back towards the action on the pitch.

And those on social media believe the iconic head coach was laughing at Antony.

One said: “Ferguson’s reaction after Anthony’s blunder 🤣🤣🤣.”

Another added: “Even Ferguson is confused about Antony’s nationality.”

While a third replied: “Even Ferguson is tired of Antony’s nonsense 🤣🤣.”

Antony has endured a nightmare 20 months at Man Utd since arriving from Ajax for £85.5million in the summer of 2022.

He has played 70 games for Erik ten Hag‘s men, scoring just nine goals and providing four assists.

And he has just two goal contributions in 26 games this season – both of which came in their 4-2 win over Newport in the FA Cup.

It was reported earlier this week that Antony is facing a fight to save his Man Utd career.

He was brought on with just seconds remaining in their 2-1 defeat to Fulham on Saturday.

And Ten Hag admitted after the game that it was a selection decision, rather than anything to do with his fitness.

The Man Utd boss said: “It was nothing to do with fitness. He is fit but we have many options on the right side where we lack in other positions due to injuries.

“The form Antony is in we all have seen and he has to step up. I see it in training, but also Omari [Forson] and Amad Diallo and Garnacho deserve to play.

“He has to prove a point but he will be able to do that. He has big potential even though he hasn’t shown it lately, but I know what his talent is and it’s about him proving his talent, it’s about him.

“He will probably get his opportunities but I think that was probably always the idea and you have competitions and now he has to show himself on the training pitch but also others do.

“We have opportunities there with [Amad] Diallo returning from injury he’s doing well in training, Omar is doing well.

“We have options to fill in those positions, it’s not set that Marcus Rashford has to play as a centre forward.”
