If dad dancing joined break-dancing as an Olympic sport the French would win gold, claimed bemused fans.
In a huge amendment from previous editions Paris 2024 organisers hosted their opening ceremony on the River Seine.
For the first time in history, the opening ceremony is being held outside of a closed stadium.
Instead Paris hosted a never-before-seen water parade for the Olympics.
But fans on social media were unimpressed by France’s attempt to switch up the ceremony.
However they did find a moment of joy after a skit showed soldier’s lined up in a musical military parade awkwardly dancing.
The hilarious routine took place into front of the breath-taking French Academy palace in central Paris.
More than 15 men in military gear clumsily swayed behind stunning hip-hop dancers dressed in gold.
Taking to X, one wrote: “If Dad Dancing was an Olympic sport, then the French would win”.
A second said: “Those guys dancing was the funniest part of the ceremony.”

The show kicked off with a short film starring French football legend Zinedine Zidane carrying the Olympic torch before he passed it local children who emerged in real life on the river banks.
The Olympic torch was then carried over the city’s stunning rooftops by a free-running athlete.
But there was no escape from the rain, which poured down early on and left fans scrambling for their waterproofs.
More than a billion people worldwide tuned into the four-hour, £120million extravaganza.
