Fearless Freddie Flintoff’s huge new role REVEALED after 124mph Top Gear crash left him with horrific injuries

ANDREW “Freddie” Flintoff is set to become the new head coach of the Northern Superchargers cricket team in the Hundred following his near-fatal 124mph crash.

The former England cricket captain, 45, was injured while filming Top Gear at the Dunsfold Park Aerodrome in Surrey last December.

The ex-Lancashire all-rounder was pictured with facial injuries for the first time in September.

He assisted the England men’s cricket team ahead of their one-day series against New Zealand.

Flintoff also continued in a flexible role with the team before their game against Ireland.

The “brave” star then presented cricketer Tom Hartley with his cap for the England Cricket team.

He will also join England Lions coaching staff for next month’s training camp in the United Arab Emirates.

But now Flintoff is expected to make a full-time return to cricket with the Leeds-based team the Northern Superchargers, The Telegraph reported.

The Superchargers are one of eight teams competing in The Hundred, a franchise tournament launched in 2021.

They opted against renewing James Foster’s contract, with Flintoff set to succeed him as the new men’s head coach in 2024.

It will be Flintoff’s first head coach position in professional cricket.

He will reportedly be assisted by former Lancashire teammate Kyle Hogg, who also helped Flintoff with his three-part Field of Dreams series.

Negotiations between Flintoff and the Superchargers could be completed as early as next week.

It comes after the BBC said it had reached “an agreement” with Freddie following the Top Gear crash.

The Sun revealed that the settlement is worth £9million and both Flintoff and the BBC are “satisfied” with the agreement.
