A FEMALE jockey SLAPPED a 57-year-old male rival in an extraordinary bust-up over dangerous riding.

Sariah Champkin, 23, saw red after she claimed veteran rider Bradley Appo left her and others fearing for their safety.

Champkin was banned for slapping a male rival almost three times her age
Appo was banned from racing for three months after he was found guilty of dangerous riding

Appo was said to have begun ‘race-riding’ his mount during trackwork and driving his horse onto the heels of hers while causing significant injury to another.

When the jockeys got back to the yard Champkin confronted Appo over the incident and recorded the shocking exchange.

Champkin, who is said to have bad blood with Appo from previous rows, then whacked him in the face.

In the recording, Champkin can he heard saying: ‘What were you doing? You were putting people’s lives in danger.”

She then pleads with Appo not to touch her before saying: “Bradley, what are you doing on track? There’s rules.

“Don’t touch me, don’t f***ing touch me.

“Do not touch me, you touched me first. Why did you do that? You can’t do that.

“I’m on record. F***ing learn how to ride. There are rules. There are people’s lives.

“You are ridiculous. You pick on women.”

Champkin told stewards in Australia she made contact with Appo’s eyebrow with an open hand in response to him grabbing her left arm, Racenet report.

She denied hitting him multiple times.

Appo denied the allegations but stewards found his riding at Toowoomba had created a ‘potentially dangerous’ situation.

The journeyman jockey, who has 111 career wins, was banned for three months as a result.

Champkin was suspended for 13 days and fined an unspecified amount.
