Football fans face travel chaos for huge weekend of Premier League clashes as latest set of train strikes confirmed

TRAIN STRIKES are set to plunge Premier League fans into chaos next month.

It has been confirmed that the latest set of strikes will take place between Friday, April 5 and Monday, April 8.

Train strikes are set to wreak havoc among football supporters on the first weekend of April[/caption]

Drivers for Chiltern, GWR, LNER, Northern, and TransPennine will strike on the Saturday – when seven Premier League games are taking place.

Of those matches, the disruption is expected to have the biggest impact on Newcastle‘s trip to Fulham – a 3pm kick-off.

Walkouts over the weekend are also set to affect fans making the trip to Sheffield United vs Chelsea at Bramall Lane.

But the supporters who will suffer most are those going to Tottenham vs Nottingham Forest in North London on Monday evening.

That is because the list of those striking includes c2c, Greater Anglia, GTR Great Northern Thameslink, Southeastern, Southern/Gatwick Express, South Western Railway main line and depot drivers, and the SWR Island Line.

And that is not the only disruption as London Underground drivers who are members of the Aslef union will also strike on the same day.

It comes after 98 per cent of its drivers voted in favour of action – with a second strike set for Saturday May 4 when another set of Premier League fixtures take place.

The overground strike is taking place due to a long-running dispute over pay.

The Tube strike is a result of employees disputing their terms and conditions.

The latest travel fears come after Chelsea fans faced cancellations prior to their trip to Manchester City last month.

And in January, supporters suffered with Tube strikes on the day of Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Liverpool.
