According to Fabrizio Romano, the Foxes are hoping to complete the deal soon.

Negotiations over the move are said to have reached an advanced stage amid direct contact between the two clubs.

Personal terms are also understood to be on the verge of being agreed.

Montpellier are keen to sell Mavididi this summer, with his contract expiring in 2024.

Leicester had faced competition from Club Brugge and Lille for the former England youth international but appear to have got their man.

Mavididi joined Arsenal’s academy aged 13 but never made a senior appearance for the club.

Instead, he was an unused substitute for two League Cup matches in 2016.

After a string of loan spells, the Gunners sold him to Juventus in 2018 and he went on to make one first-team appearance in Italy.

However, after two years he headed to France and signed for Montpellier, where he has scored 21 goals in 98 appearances.

Mavididi will become Leicester’s fifth signing of the summer if he completes his move to the King Power Stadium.

Ahead of their Championship return, the Foxes have already signed Conor Coady, Harry Winks, Mads Hermansen and Callum Doyle.
