Forgotten Premier League flop throws VAR monitor to the floor in furious fit of rage before seething rant on live TV

FORGOTTEN Liverpool man Iago Aspas was left ruing his side’s luck, after a penalty decision was overturned by VAR.

Aspas, who plays for Celta Vigo in Spain, was in action against Sevilla in LaLiga.

The forward was subbed off with his side winning the contest 1-0.

However, the visitors equalised with six minutes to go when former West Ham target Youssef En-Nesyri struck.

But, Celta Vigo thought they had a chance to snatch all three points in injury time when they were awarded a penalty by ref Alejandro Hernandez for a foul by Jesus Navas on Anastasios Douvikas.

Much to Celta’s dismay, a VAR check disallowed the goal which sparked fury among the players and crowd.

Aspas, who was watching from the sidelines, also fumed at the decision.

He reacted in anger, throwing his hands up in the air before marching towards an area where a VAR monitor is stationed.

The 20-cap striker then grabbed the monitor with both his hands and slammed it to the ground in frustration.

After he was led away by Celta coaches, Aspas was still angry when he was quizzed by DAZN Sport about the incident.

“The balance always falls on the same side. And today when it could have favoured us, he goes to the VAR to see it when all of Spain has seen it,” Aspas said.

“We have been through twelve days and in seven games the balance always falls the other way. We want to be the best league in the world and we are not advancing like this.”

Celta are third bottom in LaLiga after enduring a horror start on Rafa Benitez.

Aspas joined Liverpool in 2013 for a fee of £9million.

However, he struggled for game time at Anfield – making 15 appearances and scoring just once.

He returned to Celta in 2015, where he has continued his legendary status with the club in his second spell.

Aspas, who is now 36, has scored 196 goals for the club as he’s become one of the most feared strikers in Spain.
