Former Arsenal star, 37, joins DAZN in huge career move three years after retirement

A FORMER Arsenal player has joined DAZN for their football coverage.

The ex-defender played for the Gunners between 2004 and 2014, making 144 appearances.

He retired three years ago and his career spanned a number of countries including Germany and Turkey.

The 37-year-old moved into punditry after hanging up his boots, but has had several jobs since quitting playing.

He previously worked for RMC Sport but now DAZN have snapped up the former Switzerland international.

Johan Djourou is the man in question and he is set to commentate on the Ligue 1 clash between Monaco and Le Havre at the weekend.

He previously worked on RMC Sport’s Champions League coverage.

And he covered the Euros in the summer with RTS Sport.

Djourou is also a coach for Switzerland Women’s team and is helping them prepare for Euro 2025.

Djourou initially joined Arsenal as a youth team player in 2003 and made his first-team debut a year later.

He finished as a runner-up with the Gunners in the League Cup in 2007 and 2011, but never won a trophy.

Djourou also had a spell on loan at Birmingham in 2007-08 and won 76 caps for Switzerland.
