He spent the January window without a team and was linked with another Brazilian side, Palmeiras.

But now, according to Fabrizio Romano, he has agreed a deal with Gremio – who will be his 12th professional club.

It is Costa‘s fourth team in less than two and a half years after spells with Atletico Mineiro and Wolves.

He has scored just 11 goals in 66 matches across the last three seasons.

The rather unimpressive period included one Premier League goal in 25 appearances for Wolves.

But he is still fondly remembered for a golden few years at the top of European football.

Costa made his name with Atletico Madrid, firing them to La Liga victory, a Copa del Rey title and a Uefa Super Cup.

They also reached the Champions League final, before they lost to Real Madrid.

In 2014, he was signed by Chelsea in a deal worth £32million.

During his time in West London, Costa won three trophies, including two Premier League titles and a League Cup – scoring 52 goals in 83 appearances.

Costa then returned to Atletico in 2018 where he won the Europa League and another Super Cup.

At international level, he played two games for Brazil – the country where he was born.

But he ended up declaring for Spain and earned 24 caps, scoring 10 goals.
