MANCHESTER UNITED legends faced a line-up of former Pompey stars and there was plenty of talent on show.

The squad – which was boosted by a few pals who did not feature for the Red Devils – had over 500 United appearances between them.

Boasting seven Premier League titles, two Champions League wins, four FA Cup triumphs and three League Cups, it was not your average Sunday League side.

AFC Portchester’s stadium was filled to the brim with 1,000 fans for the game, which United won 9-5.

Wes Brown, 44, was the most decorated player on the park with a total of 13 major honours.

He played 362 times for the Old Trafford outfit – winning five Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues.

But it was special guest Lee Trundle who proved to be the star of the show.

The former Swansea striker bagged five goals according to those in attendance, earning the man-of-the-match award.

While the official AFC Portchester account on X claimed they had struggled to keep count of how many goals the retired bagsman scored.

Blackburn legend and 52-cap Scotland star Colin Hendry, who won the Premier League title with Rovers, joined Brown in defence.

Lee Martin, Keith Gillespie, Michael Gray, Nick Culkin, Chris Eagles, Danny Webber and Russell Beardsmore all pulled on the famous Red Devils shirt they wore at some point in their careers.

Former Leeds star Matt Kilgallon and combative midfielder Lee Hughes also turned out for United.

Two lucky auction winners got to join their childhood heroes on the pitch too.

Brett Pitman – who played for Porchester and Pompey – was joined by former stars including Guy Butters, Shaun Gale, Chris Burns and Paul Robinson in the Portsmouth XI.

The event was run in aid of the Sophie’s Legacy charity – set up in honour of a young girl who tragically passed away following a brave fight with cancer in 2021.

The charity helps to make changes to hospital care for children with cancer by aiming to improve hospital food for kids, increase funding in childhood cancer research and train health professionals amongst other remarkable work.

Portchester play in the Wessex League Premier Division – the ninth tier of English football – and are based near Portsmouth.
