But Ngannou did not mince his words as he told Paul to his face the dangers of the 6ft 4in UFC light-heavyweight champion.
He said: “He’s tough, he has some tough hands. I think you’re going to get some tough nights. I mean, he’s a big size guy, Alex.
“What’s your weight right now? 215. Come on, man. This guy is big, solid and he’s mean.
“He walks straight to you like, ‘I’m gonna eat this guy.'”
Pereira, 37, is a two-weight UFC champ while also winning titles in kickboxing before moving into MMA.
But he is prohibited from making a boxing switch per his UFC contract despite being encouraged to by Anthony Joshua, 34.
Paul, 27, makes his return against boxing legend Mike Tyson, 58, in a clash which has attracted controversy due to the three decade age gap.

But Ngannou, 37, who was once mentored by Tyson, delivered another blunt word of warning to Paul.
He said: “Listen, I have seen Tyson move around to show me stuff and I was like, ‘Calm down.’ He has still got it…
“Either way I think Mike Tyson will beat you. We’re talking about Mike bro. Mike is something else, he is a specimen.”
