He is keen on a return to the beautiful game after also enjoying stints at Derby and Everton.

And Lampard could now be handed the chance he’s been craving by the Canadian FA.

They will co-host the 2026 World Cup alongside the USA and Mexico.

And Canada, who also take part in their first-ever Copa America this summer, have put Lampard on a shortlist of potential new bosses following John Herdman’s exit last summer.

They have since been under the watch of interim gaffer Mauro Biello, who has won just two of his four games at the helm.

But it remains to be seen if Lampard is interested in a move abroad, despite ending his playing career in North America with MLS side New York City.

Lampard was spotted at England’s training camp last month alongside former assistant and ex-Millwall boss Joe Edwards.

Their presence sparked speculation of an imminent return to football.

Yet he could be tempted to wait until the end of the season to see if any top-flight jobs become available first.

Lampard recently revealed he was enjoying time away from football after winning just one of his 11 games as Chelsea interim boss last season.

He told talkSPORT: “I’m enjoying being with the family and looking to get back at some point.

“Hopefully something comes up that feels right for me, I’m keen to get working again but as I reiterate, I’m enjoying family life.

“It’s an intense job so when you’re out of it, it’s nice to appreciate being around all my children.

“You love the job. you understand the rigours of it in the modern day. I’ve enjoyed all the clubs I’ve worked with.

“They’ve all been big challenges for different reasons. I enjoy working with players, improve players and the team, so let’s see what comes.”
