Portuguese coach Silva, 46, confirmed yesterday he received an offer this week, which is understood to be from Al Ahli on a £40million two-year deal – and that he has given an answer.

However, when asked what the answer was, Silva – who has 12 months left on his current deal – replied: “I answered for my club. I will not talk about this situation.”

When pressed on whether he had declined the offer, Silva repeated: “I will not talk about the situation. I have shown my commitment to this club so many times and it will continue.

“I don’t come here to talk about offers and these situations. If you ask me, I will not lie to you, if I receive an offer, of course, the club knows that, but I will talk nothing more.

“I told you before and I repeat again, I don’t need to say many words. I prefer to do it with actions and my staff.

“About rumours about myself, it is not the first time. Last time it happened the same, an official offer, and during last season as well two, three times. I never spoke about it.

“I have shown my commitment always to this club every single time. My commitment for the club is clear and it will continue this way.”

However, now journalist Sam Wallace has tweeted an update on the situation, and it is good news for supporters of the West London club.

He tweeted: “Marco Silva understood to have turned down offer from Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli to stay at #FFC.”

And, in a double-whammy, he also claimed that a new striker was about to arrive at Craven Cottage.

Wallace added: “Fulham agreement to sign Raul Jimenez from #WWFC imminent.”

The 32 year-old Mexican international forward has scored 57 goals in 166 games since moving to Wolves from Benfica in 2018.

But he has found himself surplus to requirements under Julen Lopetegui.

The star, who suffered a fractured skull suffered in November 2020, has agreed terms to join Fulham with a fee of £5.5m believed to have been agreed between the clubs.

It comes amid Mitrovic’s ongoing row with Fulham over his own Saudi move.

The Serbian striker, 28, is understood not to feel mentally fit after his club turned down a second bid of about £30million from Al-Hilal.

Mitrovic, who has three years left on his £100,000- a-week contract, could see that pay packet jump to £400,000 in Saudi.
