Scott’s powerful shot blasted the midfielder in the head and the hosts’ physios rushed to the pitch at Craven Cottage.

The game was halted for five minutes as the Scotland international was left bloodied.

Bu thankfully after receiving treatment, Cairney was able to get back to his feet and continue the match against Bournemouth.

This comes after the West Londoners extended the Scot’s contract by one more year.

The central midfielder, who would have been a free agent this summer, is now tied to the club until 2025.

That means he will complete a decade of service at Marco Silva‘s team.

Cairney’s contract renewal follows the news that Tim Ream has also extended his stay at Fulham until 2025.

The versatile midfielder joined the club in 2015 following a £2.8million deal with Blackburn.

He has amassed two goals and four assists in 29 appearances across all competitions so far this season.

Cairney counts a total of 45 goals and 36 assists in 312 matches in the last nine years.

This comes after SunSport revealed Tosin Adarabioyo has told Fulham he wants to leave at the end of the season as a free agent.
