EVERTON’S fuming players are exploring ways of recovering their wages if they are relegated because of the ten-point penalty.

The Goodison dressing room is simmering about the prospect that some stars could face huge pay cuts of up to 50 per cent should that shock punishment for financial breaches send them down.

And leading players have been on to their agents and legal teams to find out if there is a case to seek compensation.

What really angers the squad is that THEY have earned the points.

While it is the club’s actions — plus the independent panel’s decision — which will cost them for that hard work.

It is an unprecedented case for boss Sean Dyche and Co at Premier League level.

And it could see his stars look for cash from the club.

But it is tricky because the contracts are legally binding and any new pay deals would have to be agreed — harder than ever if they are in the EFL.

Everton put pay-cut clauses into virtually all of the contracts of their big hitters.

Several of those are on more than £100,000 a week.

And many would have to move on rather than take those blows to their salaries.

But even if the points hit is reduced, it could still lead to relegation — and the headache of sorting player troubles.
