AARON CHALMERS is out for MMA redemption – and might have the perfect opponent for it.

Geordie Shore’s Chalmers went 5-2 in the cage after his 2017 debut but he has since moved into boxing.

He left behind his MMA career on a sour note, losing in Dublin to focus his efforts on a switch to the ring.

But Chalmers will be cageside in Newcastle on January 27 when European promotion Oktagon come to town.

And it has helped spark the urge to give the sport one final run.

Chalmers, 36, told SunSport: “I’m gonna be there cageside. I’ve just been in the MMA gym and I’ve kind of got the itch back.

“I was like, ‘I wouldn’t mind another MMA fight’. Because I left MMA on a loss, it irritates us.

“I wouldn’t mind having another one to try get that win and at least I would have ended my MMA career on a win.”

Chalmers was still living a party lifestyle during his MMA days, something he lives to regret.

But signing with Oktagon could finally give him the chance to rectify himself.

He said: “I’ll be honest, when I was doing MMA I wasn’t committed at all.

“I was partying on Geordie Shore, travelling around the world, doing appearances in clubs and then going into the MMA gym.

“I didn’t give it the dedication to what I should’ve.

“With boxing, I’ve given it 100 per cent and I would like to return to MMA, even 2-3 fights but give it everything like I did in boxing and see where I’m at.

“I had everything in my hands in MMA, I was a big name in Bellator and I didn’t take it seriously.

“So if I was to be given another chance by Oktagon, I would grab it with both hands, for sure.

“I’m open to options and hopefully we can have some talks, if we can thrash out a three-fight deal this year then I’d snap it up for sure.”

Aaron Chalmers

Chalmers is not the only celebrity star to have stepped foot in the cage.

Former X Factor and Dancing on Ice contestant Jake Quickenden, 35, beat comedian Paul Smith in round one of his debut in November.

Chalmers and Quickenden held talks to fight on the Newcastle bill but the bout could now be explored for this year.

He said: “A couple of days after his fight I called him out, just to see how he would react and he said, ‘I’d love to fight you.’

“We were going to aim for Newcastle. But he was working, taking his clothes off for a living, not a bad job!

“So I think that would be the one to bring us back, me versus him. And then obviously go from there.

“I was actually meant to spar Jake a couple of years ago when I was in MMA, so he’s obviously been around the game.

“He’s a sly one, he’s obviously been around the game a bit longer, so that would be one to get up for.”
