GERMANY star Giulia Gwinn appeared as a TV pundit for her country’s clash with Morocco in the Women’s World Cup.

Gwinn couldn’t join the German national team in Australia and New Zealand due to a cruciate ligament rupture she suffered in October.

The Bayern Munich star, though, will still be part of her nation’s efforts, but from afar as she will be offering some important insight into Martina Voss-Tecklenburg’s coaching.

The versatile midfielder joined TV presenter Sven Voss on ZDF to cover Germany’s World Cup opener.

The 24-year-old wore an elegant red dress and white trainers as she watched her team-mates kick things off on the right foot with a 6-0 triumph in Melbourne.

Alexandra Popp scored a brace, while Klara Buhl and Lea Schuller also got on the scoresheet.

Morocco were unfortunate enough to net two own-goals with Hanane Ait El Haj and Yasmin Mrabet.

Gwinn is expected to make more appearances as a pundit ahead of Germany‘s next matches against Colombia and South Korea.

This comes after the German turned down a naked cover shoot for Playboy.

It’s unclear why she turned that offer down but German stars have awkward memories from a previous cover shoot with the magazine, with some claiming it led to a curse.

Five players from the Germany’s Under-20 squad posed for the publication before the 2011 World Cup.

There’s been a feeling ever since that Annika Doppler, Kristina Gessat, Ivana Rudelic, Julia Simic and Selina Wagner struggled to progress their playing careers.

It was even claimed that Simic saw a move to Manchester City fall apart due to the photos.

In the end, she went on to play for Turbine Potsdam, Wolfsburg and Freiburg, before spells with West Ham and AC Milan but only won two full caps.

Germany’s football chiefs were also unhappy with that Playboy photoshoot 12 years ago.
