Harry Maguire horror pass gifts Athletic Bilbao lead as fuming Man Utd fans boo former captain

HARRY MAGUIRE left Manchester United fans furious after a catastrophic error against Athletic Bilbao.

The 30-year-old was snubbed for the captain’s armband by Erik ten Hag in United’s final pre-season friendly.

With United on the ball, Aaron Wan-Bissaka played an infield pass to Maguire.

However, the centre-back then inexplicably tried an outside of the boot pass into the path of a team-mate.

Inigo Lekue cut the ball out for Bilbao, with the ball finding its way to Oihan Sancet.

He then played an incisive pass into Nico Williams, who then poked the ball past a rushing out Tom Heaton to see the ball go in off the post and fire Bilbao into the lead.

Maguire was also booed by fans following the error.

Meanwhile, journalist Sameul Luckhurst also reported that United academy product Dan Gore – 12 years Maguire’s junior – had been giving him a piece of his mind after failing to move for a pass.
