Horse racing tips: Templegate’s 7-1 NAP looks a massive improver for the Skeltons and loves Cheltenham

TEMPLEGATE tackles a brilliant Saturday of racing confident of banging in a few winners.

UNEXPECTED PARTY (2.20 Cheltenham, nap)
He clocked a big personal best over fences when beating potential star Knappers Hill at Chepstow on return last month. He looks on a fair handicap mark and he went close in a novice contest over this course and distance last season. He goes on any ground and can improve again.

TEA CLIPPER (1.10 Cheltenham, nb)

He put in an encouraging effort when second on comeback at Chepstow last month. He stayed well and should be fitter for the experience. He’s now 11lb lower than when sixth in the Ultima at the Festival and that makes him competitive with trainer Tom Lacey in decent form.

JUDICIAL LAW (2.55 Cheltenham, treble)

He ran a cracker upped to this trip when a fast-finishing second here last time out. He has been hiked a fair 3lb for that excellent effort and goes on any ground. It’s a long time since he ran a poor race and should still be improving as a six-year-old.

CHELTENHAM

12.35

MILAN TINO was thrown into the deep end on both runs in France where he was placed in a Listed and then a Grade 2 contest at Auteuil when making his debut in the famous JP McManus silks.

That’s much the best form on show here and his proven stamina will be an asset up the famous hill.

Burdett Road pulled himself to the front when scoring by 12 lengths on debut at Huntingdon 13 days ago.

He’ll have to settle better and this is a very different track but he appears to have translated his solid Flat form to jumping and there will be more to come.

I Still Have Faith didn’t have to hit top gear when scoring on his first hurdling spin at Wetherby. You would expect plenty of improvement and he’s a live contender.

Gifted Angel has an experience edge and landed his third win over timber at Kempton last time. He found plenty up the home straight so should stay but he faces stronger rivals here.

Galactic Jack has some useful handicap form on the Flat and he should make a decent hurdler. This isn’t the easiest of debut races and it will tell us plenty about his ability.

Eagle Prince battled well to win on his first hurdles spin at Sedgefield and can’t be discounted although this is tougher.

Henry De Bromhead did well at the last Cheltenham meeting and has solid claims with Brampton Belle.

She has useful amateur John Gleeson on board and she was a solid third on comeback at Galway. She looks on a fair weight and should see out this trip.

Wayfinder looks a big each-way price if able to match the form of his third here last month. He stays out of trouble up front and can hang on for a place.

Read To Return has come across the Irish Sea for his handicap chase debut after a good novice victory at Killarney. He travelled well and looks a potential snip with a low weight.

Strictlyadancer was a close-up fourth behind Mole Court here last month and they should both go well.

The former is better off at the weights here and tried to come from too far back last time. He’s a big threat if able to stay closer to the pace.

1.45

BROADWAY BOY did well to get within three lengths of Flooring Porter here last time having to give the dual Stayers’ Hurdle winner weight.

He jumped well in the main given it was only his second spin over fences and he can see out this trip. There should be more to come.

Mister Coffey has lots of ability but this is his tenth run over fences and he’s yet to score.

He was a good third in the National Hunt Chase here despite the trip stretching his stamina and this challenge should suit better.

Good Risk At All was impressive when scoring by 16 lengths at Carlisle on comeback.

He was in control already when his main rival fell and his jumping was good. He should build on that but his best efforts have come in really testing conditions which he may not get here.

Weveallbeencaught was a winning hurdler here and showed some promise when behind the tip on chase debut last month. He will have learned from that.

Alaphillipe found 2m4f on the short side when second to Good Risk At All and will be happier facing this stamina test.

The Real Whacker showed his class when winning the Brown Advisory at the Festival when fighting off Gerri Colombe.

That means he has to give weight away all round here and needed his first run last season.

He’s still a major player thanks to his brilliant jumping but he has even bigger targets this term.

Stage Star took the Turners here in March on the back of winning a good novice contest over course and distance.

His poor run at Aintree came at the end of the season and he’ll be a lot better here. He goes well fresh and looks the main threat.

Notlongtillmay had a leg-stretcher when fourth here last month. He chased home Stage Star in the Turners and could get a bit closer with a 3lb pull at the weights.

Keep an eye on Torn And Frayed after almost two years off as he was a good winner here before his break.

Whistleinthedark is hoovering up small-field races but will need more at this level.

2.55

Buddy One was a good third in the Martin Pipe at the Festival and has comes here on the back of a good win at Galway.

He tries this distance for the first time but he wasn’t stopping over 2m6f latest so should get home.

Placenet is interesting on UK debut for David Pipe. He scored in decent company across the Channel and has a very low weight if he can find his best.

Shan Blue is better known as a chaser but could run well on comeback off his lower hurdles mark. He was sixth in the Ballymore over timber so is no mug.

At a big price, The Newest One has tumbled down the weights and and will like this stamina test. His rider takes off another 7lb which gives him an each-way chance.

Chantry House has lost his way over fences but he was third in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle the last time he ran in this sphere three years ago so can’t be ignored.

3.30

RESPLENDENT GREY was useful in novice ranks last season and did well behind the highly-rated Captain Teague on comeback at Chepstow.

That was in the Grade 2 Persian War where he was clearly best of the rest. He has a fair weight for this handicap debut and should improve for this step up in distance.

Springwell Bay was found out in the highest class at Aintree in April but that came at the end of a long season.

He was a good third on this card 12 months ago and rates the biggest danger.

Another Choice ran well when fourth after a break at Punchestown last month. He has lots of stamina and could run into the placings.

Gyenyame came back from seven months off to go close at Wincanton. He is best on testing ground but looks on a fair mark so has an each-way shout.

Wonderful Eagle was useful on the level in Germany and has won two of his three UK starts at Newton Abbot.

He has his sights raised a fair bit here so will need a step forward for his in-form yard.

Londonofficecallin is a whopping 31lb higher than his last handicap hurdle run but he won last time so should go well again.

4.05

EASY PEASY didn’t have a lot to beat on debut for Nicky Henderson at Plumpton last time but she landed an odds-on win without breaking sweat.

That built nicely on his debut success at Killarney and there’s lot more to come.

Micks Jet won a similar contest over course and distance in April and looked rusty on return at Sedgefield. Her liking for the track will take her a long way here.

Larchmont Lass has a 4lb penalty for taking a Sandown Listed race in the spring. She battled well there and is open to improvement.

Willie Mullins runs Baby Kate and his record in bumpers has to be respected. She won nicely enough at Ballinrobe in August and should be in the mix.

Fellow Irish raider Sharp Object might have found the ground a little deep when second at Gowran latest and is another to consider.

Disco Daisy made a good start when scoring at Chepstow and can figure if fit enough for this first run since March.

LINGFIELD

2.36

REGAL REALITY was beaten in a photo for the Group 2 Joel Stakes at Newmarket last time.

He’s probably better over the mile of that race but has won over this trip and he went close in this grade on his last visit to Lingfield.

Blue Trail could be the main danger as he returns from seven months off. He was an impressive winner in Dubai over this distance two starts ago and Charlie Appleby continues to fire in the victories.

Foxes Tales hasn’t run since Royal Ascot but he was winning form in this class on the all-weather.

He isn’t the most consistent but has enough ability to figure under Oisin Murphy.

Sir Busker was second in a Listed contest over a mile here in February and has been tried at a higher level since. He’s getting on a bit but should appreciate this drop in class.

Forest Of Dean has a Group 3 win over this course and distance on his CV. He’s back from a break but has gone well fresh before if he can find his best form.

3.11

MISCHIEF MAGIC was good enough to win over a similar trip at the Breeders’ Cup last season and was last seen scoring at Kempton last month.

We know he handles this sort of surface and should have too much pace for these rivals.

Tacarib Bay was a revelation without his usual blinkers when scoring at Newcastle last weekend. He likes this trip and should be right in the mix again.

Pink Crystal is proven at this level and went well on quick ground at Ascot last time. He has winning form around here so is a danger.

Summerghand won this 12 months ago and has had plenty of high points this season.

He hasn’t had the run of the race on his past two outings and it would be shock to see him go close again.

Willem Twee won a decent handicap at Kempton with lots up his sleeve.

He has few miles on the clock so should be capable of another step forward for James Fanshawe. This is his toughest test yet though so he’ll need a bit more.
