BEAUZON (1.25 Wolverhampton, nap)

Is gunning for a hat-trick after two smooth wins around Dunstall Park this month. Ian Williams’ flyer kicked off the year with an easy victory and defied a 5lb hike to score again on Friday. He has another penalty today but is still well ahead of his highest winning mark and is in excellent form. This trip is ideal and David Probert can steer him to another victory.

THE CALTONIAN (7.00 Newcastle, nb)

He’s another gunning for a three-timer at this track where he’s equally effective over five furlongs or this longer distance. His success this time last week was very cosy and he was nowhere near top gear in the closing stages. That was his third win from four visits to the Toon and jockey Jonny Peate is full value for his 3lb claim.

ALGHAZAAL (2.00 Wolverhampton, treble)

Hit the front too soon at Lingfield 12 days ago and did well to keep going for third place. He’s had another little nudge down the weights and moving up in distance is an interesting move. Mark Usher’s hope has winning chase form over this sort of distance so the stamina test should be ideal.
