BREEZE OF WIND (4.07 Carlisle, nap)

Stuart Coltherd’s seven-year-old has hardly put a foot wrong since going over fences. After hitting the places twice, he stormed to an 11-length victory at Hexham before stepping up to this distance for another emphatic success at Uttoxeter last time out. He likes the bit of cut in the ground we should have today and can improve past a 5lb rise in the weights in a contest that looks no tougher than last time.

BERRYGATE (3.45 Lingfield, nb)

It’s early days for Ed Bethell’s hopeful who has yet to finish out of the frame in four outings. He clocked a big personal best on handicap debut at Southwell last time. Rider Callum Rodriguez may have slightly overdone the waiting tactics as he came from a mile back to go down by a neck. Another 50 yards would have seen him in front and he’s back from the same mark. Hopefully he can lie closer to the pace and make his finishing kick count.

DONTYAWANTME (2.32 Carlisle, treble)

Was much improved when a close second at Wetherby last time. She looks capable of improving again over a trip that looks ideal.

VELVET VULCAN (5.00 Southwell, Lucky 15)

Had all sorts of traffic problems before finishing strongly to grab second here 18 days ago. He would have been a lot closer with more luck and is back under rising star pilot Billy Loughnane in what looks a slightly softer race.
