TOWNHILL (4.40 Sedgefield, nap)
This six-year-old had been threatening to come good before landing a good handicap at Doncaster last time out. He has formed a handy partnership with amateur rider Ben Sutton who was on board for that big-field victory. He can make use of his 7lb claim so Townhill is effectively a couple of pounds lower in the weights today. He saw out three miles really well on Town Moor and this stamina test should be right up his street.
SCHMILSSON (2.10 Sedgefield, nb)
Clocked a big personal best when second at Southwell last time out. Rider Fergus Gregory had him out the back turning for home but took off up the straight to be denied just a length. The uphill finish at Sedgie should be ideal for this five-year-old who is still learning the game. Trainer Olly Murphy has his string in decent form and has every chance of landing another victory here.
BIG BEE HIVE (3.40 Sedgefield, treble)
He ran really well when third over hurdles here last month. Jonathan England was on board that day too and he steered this seven-year-old into contention when coming from a long way back. The line came too soon and it’s interesting to see him thrown into this modest handicap for his chasing debut.
ROYAL WAY (Ludlow 1.50, Lucky 15 bet)
He had looked very novicey on his first two spins over hurdles but got his act together here last time to score by 14 lengths. He enjoyed this trip with some cut in the ground and is capable of another step forward here.
