A TRAINER has been banned for a year after one of his horses tested positive for a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction.

US trainer Haleem R Lee was also fined more than £7,500 after six-year-old gelding Satchel De Ritches was found to have tadalafil in his system.

Trainer Lee has been banned for a year and hit with a hefty fine after one of his horses tested positive for a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction

Tadalafil is often sold under the brand name Cialis among others in the States.

However, it can also treat high blood pressure in the blood vessels that supply the lungs and this was almost certainly the reason it was in the horse’s body.

Satchel De Ritches tested positive after winning a starter allowance race at Parx racetrack in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.

The other horses in Lee’s yard are suspended from running and will be transferred to other trainers.

The trainer has made more than £1.1million in his career with 55 winners in all.

Last year was the best of his four-year career with earnings of just over £500,000.

Stewards said six multiple medication violation points will be assigned to his record but Lee has the right to appeal their decision and ban.

Sun Racing told you two years ago how one horse’s poor form was blamed on his ‘abnormally large testicles’.

Morethannumberone – originally bought for £212,000 – was sold for just £17,000 after only one win in 15 starts.

But he turned into a sensation once he was gelded.

His new owner Michael Costa said: “I was expecting for him to arrive with his balls huge and dragging off the truck but in all honestly but they weren’t that big.”
