PETER WRIGHT admits he’s been too “over-confident” after being a flop in 2024.
The two-time world champion aims to continue his good form in the Flanders Trophy in Antwerp this weekend.
Peter Wright claimed he did not play well as he won the German Championship[/caption] He revealed he thought he would beat Luke Littler[/caption]Wright, 54, has endured a rotten year so far and finished bottom of the Premier League before winning his first title in Hildesheim on Sunday, beating Luke Littler in the German Championship final.
He revealed: “It’s nice to win but obviously Luke had lots of darts at doubles that he missed.
“I didn’t play that well really, only really against Michael van Gerwen. All the rest of the games I just seemed to hit the occasional good leg at the right time.
“There were a couple of good finishes here and there and that was about it. I wasn’t playing well scoring-wise. But there’s plenty more to come.
“I’ve been feeling really good but it just hasn’t come out in a tournament.
“It was starting to go OK in Australia but obviously I came back and was tired in Milton Keynes.
“But I thought I was going to win the Matchplay. I think I was over-confident.
“These tournaments recently I’ve just been taking it one leg at a time instead of thinking I’m going to win the whole thing.

“You’ve got to beat what’s in front of you first before you pick up the title.”
Littler, 17, broke down in tears following his final defeat as he revealed a friend’s dad had passed away.
He said: “I have got to give a massive shout out to my friend Ellis. He lost his dad. I’ve known him since I was three or four.”
