The Brazilian played with many of football‘s biggest stars such as Gareth Bale, Luka Modric and Ronaldinho during his 19-year career.

Despite earning millions while blocking shots at the highest level he is still working.

Gomes, 42, has gone into followed his faith and become a pastor and is preaching gospel, despite being offered a role at Watford.

He told talkSPORT: “I’m still doing this. I’m still preaching the gospel and this is something that gives me the freedom to be an agent.

“I can be anywhere. I can be anywhere preaching the gospel.”

The former PSV ace is also working as a football agent as he insisted that he wants to help young players.

He added: “I needed to do something in football after retiring.

“It’s difficult to stay there but I made so many connections during 20 years as a professional footballer so to become an agent I see myself helping young players get to where I had the opportunity to go in England and Europe.

Heurelho Gomes had a fallout with Harry Redknapp at TottenhamRex

“There are so many Brazilians, young players who dream of coming over here, but to come here isn’t like magic, you need to work at that and work at their mentality as well. They need to be prepared to come over.

“I couldn’t see myself inside of the pitch or in management or something like that.

Watford did invite me to stay there after I retired but I said ‘no, let me try what is in my heart at the moment’ and what is in my heart is to become an agent and help the young players as much as I can.”

Gomes spent six seasons at Spurs during his career between 2008 and 2014.

However, his time in North London could have been cut short after a fallout with manager Harry Redknapp.

The goalkeeper was dropped at the start of the 2011/12 season in favour of American stopper Brad Friedel.

Gomes fell out with Redknapp over his snub and insisted that he would not want to play for the manager ever again.

Redknapp was sacked in June 2012 and Gomes returned to the team but only as the cup goalkeeper as he featured in the Carabao Cup and Europe.
