CAMERON MENZIES has revealed he has signed a new plumbing contract as he continues to juggle darts with his regular day job.

The world No40 is gearing up for the Grand Slam of Darts which gets underway in Wolves on Saturday.

He will face off against Group B rivals Danny Noppert, Martin Schindler and Beau Greaves.

And Menzies, who has been dating fellow darts star Fallon Sherrock for three years, comes into the competition in good form having won his first PDC ranking title earlier this week in the Players Championship.

However, despite the 35-year-old Scot’s increasingly impressive results, he has revealed he has just penned a new plumbing contract – a move that will further postpone a full-time switch to darts.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “I’ve just signed a new contract with them.

“I’ve changed my hours so I’m working three days a week now instead of five days which is a lot better for me.

“I asked the office and they were happy to do it – I just had to go to HR.

“They’ve been massively helpful with me.”

At last year’s world championships, Menzies played at Alexandra Palace just hours after carrying out a plumbing job.

And he admitted it can impact his level on the oche.

He said: “I had issues with my hands at the Players Championship.

“It happens after I use certain power tools which vibrate. My hands were a bit numb-ish.”

Menzies could face partner Fallon Sherrock at the world championships next month if they are drawn together in the first round.

And a more hectic darts schedule could eventually lead to him packing in plumbing for good.

He added: “If I start doing more exhibitions and stuff I do think I might have to make a choice.”
