LOVE ISLAND winner Kai Fagan is waiting to hear if he will go from Casa Amor to Castleford with a deal at rugby league side London Broncos.

The reality TV star, who was a PE teacher, won £50,000 on the ITV show after striking up a relationship with Sanam Harrinanan.

But after he relocated from Manchester to the capital, he pitched up at the one-off trial for the Broncos’ reserve side at Rosslyn Park.

Now he is waiting to hear from second string coach Kieran Robertson if he will be advanced to the next stage after being out through his paces.

Fagan, 25, had been in touch with the club since moving down south as he fancied a crack at taking up playing rugby league again.

“I scored a couple of tries – training tries count, don’t they?” he said.

“But on the contact drills, I’d forgotten how physical rugby league is.

“It was brilliant, though. I absolutely loved it. I don’t know if I’ll be invited back, we’ll have to wait and see.”

Before he headed to South Africa in search of love, Fagan played rugby league while at Sheffield Hallam University and was picked for the England Universities RL side in 2019, being presented with his shirt by former Steve Prescott Man of Steel Luke Gale.

He came off the interchange bench in a 16-6 win against GB Police and a 38-26 victory against Championship club Halifax’s reserves.

The Love Island star was also selected for the GB Pioneers student side.

Playing in the second row, Fagan started for the Universities North side as it defeated universities South 34-22 at Loughborough in February 2019 – he wore a shirt from that occasion for his trial.

He also played at centre or wing in rugby union at south Manchester club Burnage and represented Jamaica in the 15-a-side code, who he also played sevens for.
