ALEX PEREIRA has revealed he dumped his long-time girlfriend after discovering she was already married.

Eagle-eyed MMA fans noticed earlier this month that the former middleweight champion’s long-time partner Merle Christine was nowhere to be seen on his social media pages.

Rumours of a split spread like wildfire, so much so it prompted an MMA reporter to question Pereira on her absence from his Instagram and his recent cryptic posts this week.

And UFC‘s current light-heavyweight heavyweight champion has sensationally claimed they went their separate ways after Christine – whom he was engaged to – lied about already being married.

The dad-of-two told FullSend MMA: “Well, it’s a little hard to talk about this because, for me, I already deleted this person from my life.

“I would also like to ask my fans to also delete her from your life.

“It was a person I believed, I put her in my house, with my family.

“After all, I found out, she was married.”

UFC fans were left stunned by Pereira’s revelation, with one saying: “WHATTTTTT?”

Another said: “What the f**k?”

And another said: “Ahhh this is straight diabolical.”

One remarked: “Wait…WHAT?!!”

Another chimed in: “Wait, what?!”

Christine – who was cageside for Pereira’s 205lbs title win last November – has yet to respond to the stunning claim that she was married the entire time they were together.

But she recently issued a statement confirming their split and wishing her now-former partner nothing but the best.

She wrote: “It seems like all these comments and rumours are not stopping.

“So I think it’s important to make a little statement.

“Sometimes in life, a relationship doesn’t work, and people decide to take two different ways.

“And I think it’s something everybody has to respect, and it doesn’t mean that there is bad blood between these two people.

“I wish Alex all the best and a lot of success in his career.”

Despite wishing ‘Poatan’ nothing but success for the rest of his already-historic career, she was caught liking an Instagram post suggesting he would lose his next fight.

Fan favourite Pereira hasn’t set foot inside the octagon since knocking out Jiri Prochazka to become the fastest two-weight champion in UFC history.

The former Glory star’s historic win came just seven months after he lost the middleweight to long-time rival Israel Adesanya via brutal second-round KO.

Pereira doesn’t have an opponent lined up for his first defence of the 205lbs title, although there are rumours he could complete his MMA trilogy with Adesanya at UFC 300 in April.
