WWE legend Big Show earned £23million throughout his career – but wrestling was never a certainty.

The wrestling giant, real name Paul Wight, worked a number of menial jobs before getting his shot at the big time.

Big Show was once a promising basketball player but a series of tragedies, including losing his dad and grandfather, led him to drop out of school.

He then had several different jobs before being given his chance in wrestling by icon Hulk Hogan.

Big Show told talkSPORT: “I quit school, I didn’t like the new coach that came in. I had nothing against him and I’m sure he was a great guy but we didn’t click.

“I started just meandering around, I was selling used cars, I was working as a bouncer, I did some bail bond work for a guy who had a licence.

“I was a door-to-door chemical salesman selling bathroom cleaners and deodorisers, you talk about learning rejection, being a door-to-door cold call salesman is the worst.

“I even answered phones for a karaoke place.”

Big Show, 51, spent 22 years in WWE and he now performs for AEW – All Elite Wrestling.

He is a multiple world champion in WWE and WCW and he raked in millions from his bouts.

In fact, Big Show ranks fourth in the all-time list of earners for wrestlers with a fortune of £23m.

That places him ahead of The Undertaker, Chris Jericho and Triple H – and just shy of John Cena in third place.

The wrestling legend has had two hip replacements in recent years and in the peak of his physical powers he ate an incredible 18,000 calories a DAY – gorging on McDonald’s and apple pies.
