I made fortune winning the Snooker World Championship – but I’m no longer a millionaire after buying fleet of supercars

SNOOKER star Luca Brecel has revealed he is no longer a millionaire after buying a fleet of supercars.

The Belgian shot to the top of the snooker game in May when he beat Mark Selby to win his first ever world title.

But he has now revealed he has blown most of the prize money after struggling to motivate himself in the aftermath of his victory.

Brecel has announced a bold strategy as he attempts to recapture the fire in his belly.

The Belgian has intentionally drained his bank account after buying  a Ferrari, a Range Rover and a Porsche.

He said: “I bought two more cars this week, so I went from a millionaire to a non-millionaire.

“It was a conscious decision to buy the cars and maybe feel that bit of pressure again, to recreate the feeling I had of just starting my career.”

He says that he blew half of the £250,000 prize money from his crucible victory on a brand new Ferrari – but could earn that back if he wins the UK Championship this Sunday.

The Belgian bullet’s net worth is reportedly £4million.

Brecel admitted he has been facing problems with his mindset, saying: “I didn’t go lazy, but I just didn’t feel that hunger or motivation going from tournament to tournament.

“I don’t like that feeling and I had to change something. I wasn’t feeling any pressure any more. I was just playing and if I lost I was happy to be home. It’s not a good mindset to have.”

The Belgian Bullet insists he is not worried about consistency, and says he has time to get it right.

He continued: “I’m still young and I feel like one day I’m going to get to number one anyway.

“I’ve been one match away and one frame away from world number one. I think my best chance was going to the Wuhan Open and I didn’t, so that shows you how much it keeps me busy. But it would be nice to tick it off, I’m not going to lie.”

Brecel has previously admitted he is partial to a night out and splashing the cash, particularly when celebrating a victory.

After winning the World Championships, he said: “I won’t practice for a couple of weeks and months. I will enjoy this. It has been a cray week. No practice, just partying. It shouldn’t be legal.

Brecel opened his UK Championship with a 6-4 victory over Yuan Sijun.

The win set up a second round clash with Zhang Anda, and victory there will see him face either Hossein Vafaei or Matthew Selt in the quarter finals.

Victory in the quarters could set up a tasty matchup against the legendary Ronnie O’Sullivan.
