WOLVES striker Matheus Cunha has sampled the fanatical fervour and steamy Latin passion of Brazil against bitter South American rivals Argentina.
He has been at the heart of the madness in Madrid when Atletico clashed with fierce city rivals Real Madrid.
Cunha knows all about heated rivalries after playing for Brazil against Argentina[/caption]And he has experienced the bonkers Berlin derby between Hertha Berlin and Union Berlin.
But he says he can’t wait to make history by playing in one of the world’s great derbies ….. when Wolves go head-to-head with West Brom in the FA Cup!
Cunha set up the first Black Country derby in front of fans for 12 years when he kept his cool to slot home Wolves’ winning penalty 210 minutes into their epic FA Cup tie with Brentford.
Now he can’t wait to experience the white-hot heat when Wolves’ take on their hated local rivals, Carlos Corberan’s Baggies!
The 24-year-old said: “I’ve played Brazil, Argentina and Real Madrid Atletico Madrid, and now I really want to play for Wolves against West Brom and make history.
“A lot of fans said we needed to win against Brentford because it’s a big derby. I’m very happy to play derbies.”
Cunha certainly has big game experience after sampling the crazy rivalry between Argentina and Brazil in a world cup qualifier in Buenos Aires in November 2021 which Brazil drew 0-0.
And he has finished on the winning side once in three Madrid derbies for Atletico against Real Madrid.

The ace has also played in the Madrid derby for Atletico[/caption]Cunha admits the prospect of that first Black Country derby outside Covid restrictions for 12 years drove Wolves on as they came from behind THREE TIMES to beat Brentford.
He said: “The first tie at Brentford, we lost one player, Joao Gomes and we kept fighting.
“We scored to get a draw to bring Brentford back to our home and at home.
“It was a big battle, but we are very happy to win the battle.
“Everyone in the stadium can see, we are on the pitch and tired, everything was against us, but this kind of energy gives us something more to continue to run and battle.
“The last goal was a trophy for everybody.
“I was completely exhausted, more tired than normal, but everything is OK. The team is the most important thing. Everyone can be a little bit more confident in this team.
“It was incredible. After every goal they scored, it was a little bit harder to come back.
“But this group of players is incredible and we’ve showed this in a lot of games under Gary O’Neil.”
