AAMIR JAMAL has gone from driving Australians around in an Uber to ripping through their Test team as Pakistan’s star bowler.
Pakistan have already lost the three-match series Down Under after being beaten in both of the opening two Tests.
Aamir Jamal was an Uber driver in Australia six years ago[/caption]But despite his team’s defeats, Jamal, 27, has starred for his side with the ball.
In the opening match in Perth – his debut in international Test cricket – medium-fast bowler Jamal took seven wickets, including six in the first innings.
He then took another five at the MCG in the Second Test – which included picking off Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith in Australia‘s first innings.
He has maintained that form in the Third Test in Sydney, taking another six wickets in the Aussies’ first innings to give Pakistan hope of a victory.
And Jamal’s superb performances make for an even more incredible story when you learn he was an Uber driver in Australia just SIX years ago.
Speaking to the Pakistan Cricket Board last year about his old job, he said: “I used to get online for my first shift from five until ten-thirty in the morning.
“This struggle instilled punctuality in me and I started to value things. When you are forced to work hard and earn things, you value them.”
Yet despite Jamal’s six wickets in the Third Test, Pakistan still look set to come up short.
