RUSS BRAY is earning thousands in a new job after stepping away from darts.

The legendary referee hung up his microphone after Luke Humphries beat Luke Littler in the World Championship final earlier this month.

Bray’s iconic way of calling “180” made him synonymous with the sport for three decades.

And the voice of darts has found a new way to cash in on his distinctive tones – offering fans personalised video messages.

Throwers can get well wishes from Bray for £31 each on Cameo.

Bray says on the site: “How excited I am to be able to send you a message. It can be anything, birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, motivational, I won’t do insults though. Let’s have a lot of fun here.”

He has already supposedly pocketed £5,000.

The 66-year-old got his famous raspy voice due to smoking since his tenth birthday.

On his way of speaking, Bray told SunSport: “It individualises me. It’s all natural.

“I was born in the 50s. In the 60s, everyone smoked. My mum and dad smoked, so did my granddad.

“Watch an advert on TV and everyone had a cigarette in their hand. It was fashionable.

“I packed up at 53 on October 17, 2010, and I haven’t had a cigarette since. Never touched one in 13 years and my voice hasn’t changed.”

Bray, who used to work as a policeman, driving instructor and scaffholder, is remaining in darts despite retiring.

The Essex-born official has become a PDC ambassador and will continue working on the Asian Tour and in World Series events.
