A MANCHESTER UNITED transfer target was involved in an ugly spat with his own fans following a home defeat.

Nice star Jean-Claire Todibo has attracted plenty of transfer attention through his performances this season.

He has helped his side into the top four but Nice’s form has dropped off in recent weeks.

Nice, who are owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, are without a win in five Ligue 1 games following a 2-1 defeat at home to Montpellier.

Todibo scored an own goal in the tenth minute before his team-mate Jeremie Boga equalised two minutes later.

But when Téji Tedy Savanier put the visitors back in front from the penalty spot shortly before half-time, Nice faced a difficult task.

They were unable to turn the game around and the home faithful made their feelings known at the final whistle.

Todibo decided to confront the ultras behind the goal and appeared agitated as fans hurled their objections towards him.

The centre-back had to be held back by his team-mates as they tried to forcefully usher him way from the fans and down the tunnel.

Meanwhile, Nice fans clamoured down from the stands and attempted to get onto the pitch – they had to be held back by security holding barriers.

Reports claimed fans told Todibo to “leave” following speculation the Frenchman wants to leave.

Todibo, 24, has admitted he would be prepared to make a move amid interest from United.

He said: “I am at Nice and we’re having a great season. I don’t have my head elsewhere. If I did it would be difficult for me personally and for the group too.

“I feel really good at Nice. We’ll see what happens in the summer but we’re not there yet. I don’t want to get ahead of myself.

“I don’t want to give false hope. For now, I’m here at Nice.”
