FOOTY FANS “can’t wait” to visit Everton’s new stadium after images revealed how the incredible project is heading towards completion.

Work has been well underway for over a year on their next home on the banks of the River Mersey at Bramley-Moore Docks.

It is due to hold up to 53,000 supporters – an increase of over 13,000 from Goodison Park.

Chief Farhad Moshiri, who is trying to sell his majority stake in Everton, had previously claimed that the stadium was costing £740m.

But it was then revealed that the Merseyside strugglers were actually forking out £800m – a £300m increase on what was first forecast.

That revelation was made during evidence provided for their successful partial appeal to have their ten-point deduction reduced to six for breaches of profit and sustainability rules.

The stadium will be completed by the end of 2024 and now several snaps of how it is currently looking have emerged on social media.

Thousands of blue seats have been installed inside the bowl, with plastic coverings placed over them to protect them.

It will also boast one of the steepest terraces in England to try and ensure that the famous Goodison atmosphere is maintained.

Cranes are currently situated where the pitch will be, as work continues on the roof.

Meanwhile, on the new west stand, the first section of barrel clad roofing has been installed on the facade.

Huge glass windows are being fitted on the outside, while a huge scoreboard has already been completed on the inside.

No doubt the photographic updates will have stoked excitement amongst the Everton faithful, but even rival supporters are looking forward to visiting it when it opens.

Responding to the snaps on social media, one wrote: “When’s the away end going to be? Can’t wait to go there.”

“It’ll generate an amazing atmosphere. That’s what it’s all about,” read another reply.

A third said: “Make no mistake it’s impressive and will be an iconic venue for not only Everton games but for many major events, it’s tremendous.”

Another said: “You can see whole pitch from everywhere.”

While a fifth said: “I quite like the traditional look of the stadium. Everton have great support and will make it an incredible atmosphere.”

Meanwhile, Everton are currently on an 11-match winless run – just one less than their worst Premier League record from the 1994/95 season – as they battle relegation.

And boss Sean Dyche was involved in an incident with one of his players during a training camp in Portugal last week to add to their woes.

Everton are not back in Premier League action until March 30 when they visit Bournemouth.
