IRELAND have been crowned as the 2024 Six Nation champions after a 17-13 win over Scotland.

Despite defeat at the hands of England last weekend, Ireland remained red hot favourites to land the title today.

However, to secure the crown they needed to beat Scotland in Dublin by any margin.

Even defeat to the Bravehearts but collecting two bonus points would have still been enough for Andy Farrell‘s side to clinch victory.

And a try from Dan Sheehan 13 minutes into the game set them on their way to lift the trophy for the second year running.

But Scotland did not make it easy for Ireland.

Two first half penalties from Finn Russell ensured the score remained tight.

Ireland had the chance to get some much needed breathing room when Jack Crowley stepped up to convert a penalty.

However, the 24-year-old failed to convert from distance after Peter O’Mahony delegated the kick to him.

Following the interval, Ireland once again got in on the penalty action.

Crowley stepped in a bid to draw a line under his previous miss.

And this time there would be no mistake from the fly-half as he converted to make it 10-6.

A raise of tempo threatened to see them land a second try through Tadhg Furlong.

But after an extensive check TMO advised Marius Jonker there had been a separation between the ball and arm.

Andrew Porter then did land the next try for Ireland before tacking on two more with a conversion to make the score 17-6 with 15 minutes to full time.

Three minutes from the end Huw Jones made it interesting by bagging a late try and conversion at 17-13.

However, they were unable to overturn the deficit as Ireland were crowned champions for the sixth time in the Six Nations era.
