ERIK TEN HAG will be SACKED by November, claims Jamie Carragher.

The Manchester United boss clung to his job having led the Red Devils to eighth last term – their lowest-ever finish in the Premier League.

Carragher, who was joined by Paul Scholes on The Overlap podcast, asked fans in attendance for their ‘hot take’ for the upcoming season.

Carragher, 46, said: “What’s mine… Ten Hag gone by November… international break.”

Before a United fan added: “We’ll either win the league or Ruud van Nistelrooy will be our manager at Christmas. One of the two.”

To which Carragher ruthlessly replied: “I know which one it will be,” referring to the latter coming true.

Van Niselrooy completed an emotional return to Carrington this summer to become Ten Hag’s assistant manager.

Club legend Dwight Yorke echoed the same sentiment as Carragher and believes it’s “obvious” that Van Nistelrooy will be appointed as manager.

Ten Hag was in danger of being sacked before being handed a one-year contract extension to keep him at Old Trafford until 2026.

His existing contract was running until 2025, so an additional 12 months is not considered to be a huge sign of faith.

The Dutchman has lifted both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup at Wembley during his two-year spell.

But Ten Hag’s side flattered to deceive last season and only clinched to Europa League football after Uefa made special accommodations for Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who owns a stake at French side Nice.

Uefa’s ownership rules usually prevents clubs with the same “decisive influence” from competing together in the same competition.

Meanwhile, Scholes is concerned about United’s pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt.

The Old Trafford legend believes De Ligt is almost a “second rate defender” after being deemed surplus to requirements by both Juventus and now Bayern.
