AN ITV wrestling star passed away on Christmas Day, his family have confirmed.
Jim Breaks, 83, has died after spending the last few years of his life in Gran Canaria following a successful career.
The Bradford-born wrestler was renowned for his ‘tantrums’[/caption]In his 30 years, Breaks bagged the British Welterweight Championship eight times and the British Lightweight Championship nine times.
The Bradford-born wrestler soon earned the name “Cry Baby” after his multiple “tantrums” in the ring.
A cause of death has not yet been revealed.
However, it is understood he had been battling senile dementia in recent years.
Breaks’ granddaughter Jo Jo paid tribute to him in a heartfelt post.
She said: “My family and friends are going through a hard time as we sadly lost my granddad Christmas Day.
“I appreciate all your lovely comments and love reading them.”
His death comes after he was charged with killing his ex-girlfriend.
Breaks was arrested in 2017 after he reportedly smashed a cup over Donna Cowley’s head.
He then fled the scene before Donna, 47, called emergency services and died in hospital, a court at the time heard.
Prosecutors had demanded a 15-year jail sentence for Breaks.
But Judge Emilio Moya ruled he was “unfit” to stand trial after reading medical records in 2020.
