The 66-1 chance was leading and pinging the famous fences when he fell at the 25th.

Bellamy looked to get catapulted forwards from the horse and smashed into the turf.

Broadway Boy walked gingerly into a horse ambulance on the track – while Bellamy was taken away for further assessment.

Seven-year-old gelding Broadway Boy, who is trained by Nigel Twiston-Davies,. will return to his yard for further assessment.

While it is hoped Bellamy’s injuries are not too bad, he will require observation from a doctor.

Broadway Boy was one of three horses to fall in the race, alongside 25-1 Kandoo Kid and 10-1 Perceval Legallois.

While 125-1 outsider Celebre D’Allen was also taken into a horse ambulance after being pulled up on the run-in.

The Grand National remains a gruelling test despite the changes to the race – with just 16 finishers this year.

The good ground will have caught many out – with a wave of horses pulled earlier in the day.

All 34 lined up in the National but former Supreme winner Appreciate It was brought down.

While 13 horses in all were pulled up including recent Cheltenham hero and the much-fancied Stumptown, trained by Gold Cup-winner Gavin Cromwell.

While jockey Danny Gilligan was unseated from Gordon Elliott’s 33-1 chance Duffle Coat.

The story of the race belonged to 33-1 winner Nick Rockett – an amazingly emotional victor for Willie Mullins, his son Patrick and owner Stewart Andrew.

Stewart’s late wife Sadie died from cancer just five days after watching Nick Rockett’s first race.

Nick Rockett’s remarkable win capped off a 1-2-3 for Mullins in the £1million race.
