Jockey trampled to death by two horses in horrific fall as devastated friends remember a ‘kind’ man

A JOCKEY has tragically died after being trampled by two horses following a horrific mid-race fall.

Racing was plunged into mourning for Francisco Tuazon, 46, after the grave scenes at a race in the Philippines.

The jockey lost his action on the frontrunner and was trampled after being unseated

Friends, family and racing fans were quick to express their sorrow after learning of Tuazon’s sad passing

The jockey, known as Kiko, lost his irons in a race at the Metro Turf Club in the city of Batangas.

His horse Wild Eagle was bowling along in front when footage of the incident showed Tuazon falling to one side.

He clattered into the dirt and appeared to get struck by the runner’s hind legs.

As his body lay on the track another horse coming from behind then ran over the top of him.

According to local reports, Tuazon was taken to DMMC Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Philippine Racing Commission chair Aurelio de Leon paid tribute to a much respected rider on their circuit.

He said in a statement: “The Philippine Racing Commission, along with the entire horse racing community, deeply mourns the untimely passing of jockey Francisco ‘Kiko’ Tuazon.

“A revered and cherished figure in the sport, he left an indelible mark on the track and in our hearts.

“With a career spanning more than two decades, he exemplified the epitome of skill, dedication and sportsmanship.

“He exhibited extraordinary courage in his final moments.

“His commitment to the sport, even in the face of adversity, reflects the true spirit of a seasoned jockey.

“Beyond the racetrack, Tuazon was known for his kindness, humility and camaraderie.

“His legacy extends far beyond the victories he secured, touching the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

“May he find eternal peace in the great racetrack beyond.”

While a post from Metro Turf Club read: “It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a remarkable jockey.

“His passion for the racetrack and undeniable talent brought joy to many.

“Francisco’s legacy in the horse racing world will forever be etched in our hearts.

“Let’s come together to celebrate his life, the victories he achieved and the camaraderie he shared with fellow jockeys, as well as breeders and owners.

“May you rest in peace. Your spirit will continue to gallop in our memories.”

Sadly this is the second jockey death in as many weeks to rock the sport.
