JON JONES has broken his silence on Tom Aspinall’s stunning UFC title win – and he was seemingly impressed by the Brit.

Aspinall, 30, became only the third UK fighter to win UFC gold early this morning in front of a sold crowd at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Aspinall’s stunning title win got the attention of undisputed champ Jon Jones[/caption]

The Wigan warrior knocked out Russian wrecking machine Sergei Pavlovich in 69 seconds to claim the interim heavyweight title.

A historic undisputed showdown with Jones will await Aspinall should the undisputed champion win his rescheduled showdown with Stipe Miocic.

And MMA legend Jones is seemingly intrigued by the fight, posting on X: “Tom congratulations on the interim heavyweight championship belt.

“That was an awesome performance!”

Jones’ rare complimentary tweet was quickly put to Aspinall, who was quick to shoot his shot at trying to convince the legend to snub retirement.

He said: “I’ve seen Jon talking nice stuff about me on a podcast, as well. It’s really nice.

“Obviously it’s always nice to hear nice things about you.

“But from someone like that, who I massively look up to, even more so.

“Yeah, thank you, Jon. Just give me the opportunity, Jon. Let me do it.

“Give me my dream fight. Why not? I’ve just achieved my dream now.

“Give me my dream fight. Let me fight for my legacy now please.”

Aspinall may have to wait a while to get his hands on Hall of Famer Jones.

The former long-reigning light-heavyweight champion is currently recovering from the torn pec which laid waste to his MSG melee with Stipe Micoc.

Aspinall was hit with a wave of emotion after his short-notice title win, which he dedicated to his dad and trainer Andy.

He said: “This man right here has been with me my whole life, so this belt is dedicated to my father.

“I was struggling with the distance a little bit, his arms are really long so it felt a bit funny but we got there.”
