Jumps racing returns to famous track after 25 years with massive £1.2million three-day meeting confirmed

JUMPS racing will return to Royal Windsor racecourse with an almighty bang – 25 years after it lasted hosted National Hunt action.

The popular track is best known for staging Monday night Flat racing during the summer months.

But now it will form part of the new-look £1.2million Winter Million weekend.

Arena Racing Company confirmed Royal Windsor will replace Lingfield as the host for two days of the three-day meeting.

Ascot’s Clarence House Chase card – which last weekend had to be rearranged for the second year in a row – will headline the Saturday.

While Windsor will welcome top quality jumpers on Friday and Sunday, for their feature Fleur De Lys Chase, won yesterday by L’Homme Presse.

The jumps will officially return to Windsor for the first time since 1998 on Sunday, December 15.

With the Winter Million weekend following shortly after.

And a three-day ticket covering all the action will be available for punters.

Managing Director of ARC’s Racing Division, Mark Spincer, said: “We were delighted to announce the return of jump racing to Royal Windsor last year, and to make this further announcement regarding the Berkshire Winter Million Weekend.

“We hope that, alongside the fantastic day’s racing at Ascot Racecourse, the three days will be a hugely exciting one for racing fans to look forward to in the New Year.”

Felicity Barnard, Commercial Director and Deputy CEO at Ascot Racecourse, added: “We look forward to being a part of the inaugural Berkshire Winter Million Weekend in 2025 and hope it will be an exciting weekend for racegoers to combine a visit to both tracks as well as those watching from home on both Sky Sports Racing and ITV Racing.”

Windsor’s track will undergo some changes to make it work better for jumps racing.

The usual figure of eight track will be scrapped for a continuous left-handed circuit.
