Phillips spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham.

All season, across both clubs, he made just 12 Premier League appearances before being left out of England’s squad for Euro 2024.

The 28-year-old, who still has four years remaining on his City deal, remains keen to secure a move in search of regular first-team action.

Phillips is understood to be desperate to regain his place in the Three Lions squad.

According to talkSPORT, the former Leeds man has emerged as a target for Everton as they look to replace Amadou Onana.

The Belgian international completed a £50million move to Aston Villa on Monday.

Financial constraints mean the Toffees would only be able to make a loan proposal for Phillips, though, the report adds.

Fulham are also monitoring the situation following Joao Palhinha’s move to Bayern Munich.

Phillips is currently in the USA with City for their pre-season tour and played in their friendly defeat to Celtic on Tuesday.

The Premier League champions are set to play matches against AC Milan, Barcelona and Chelsea before returning to England in August.

Speaking after the match against Celtic, Pep Guardiola admitted he is unsure on Phillips’ future at the Etihad Stadium.

The City boss explained: “We’ll see. He’s training really well, he made a really good first half against Celtic.

“He came from an injury, that’s why we didn’t want to give him more minutes. But we’ll see, he knows the situation.”
