Sheffield United are interested in signing Kasper Schmeichel[/caption]But his spell in France did not go according to plan, though he did make 46 appearances for the Ligue Un side before being released in September.
Schmeichel, 37, joined Anderlecht on a one-year deal and Sheffield United are considering a move this month, report MailOnline.
The Dane has made 13 appearances for Anderlecht but kept just two clean sheets.
And he could be tempted by a return to the Premier League despite the Blades’ struggles.
Chris Wilder’s side are bottom of the table after losing 15 of their 20 matches, and have conceded an alarming 49 goals.
Sheffield United are reported to be interested in Villarreal striker Ben Brereton-Diaz.
The Chile international attracted a lot of interest while at Blackburn but has failed to replicate his goalscoring form in Spain.
He could be available on loan after failing to score a single goal for Villarreal, with the Blades also in need of more firepower up-front.

Meanwhile, United could send defender Luke Thomas back to Leicester by ending his season-long loan early.
The Thomas decision may depend on the fitness of left-back Max Lowe, who picked up a groin injury in training last week.
Blades chiefs know if Thomas, 22, returns to the Foxes, it frees up space for an extra loan signing.
